Tomorrow Never Knows

We joined Joackim Guichard and his crew, Vasco Mónica and Filipe Neto, on a trip deep into Lofoten – where every turn brings a new challenge.

With roots in both Norway and Portugal, Joackim brings together a deep connection to the Nordic landscape and a passion for surfing from the south. He had been to Lofoten several times before, but this trip meant something special – for Vasco, it was a long-held dream come true.

Icy roads, relentless wind and freezing water: the trip was never just about reaching the surf. It was about taking the unexpected as it came and going beyond what is comfortable. Bringing the right clothing was essential, and in Guard, Torrent and Tyo they stayed warm through snow and heavy wind.

The trip was as much about getting by as about surfing. In Portuguese tradition they caught their own cod and prepared it as bacalhau – one more way of meeting the Arctic on its own terms.

Dawn sessions in sub-zero temperatures, detours into untouched terrain and the constant puzzle of finding the right swell and wind made the trip as much about strategy as adventure.
