We teamed up with Joachim Guichard and his crew, Vasco Mónica, and Filipe Neto, as they ventured deep into the breathtaking landscapes of Lofoten—where towering peaks meet frigid waves, and every turn offers a new challenge.

Joachim, with his unique blend of Norwegian and Portuguese heritage, embodies the spirit of exploration—combining his deep connection to the rugged Nordic environment with the relentless passion for surfing rooted in his southern origins. Having visited Lofoten on multiple trips, this journey held special significance, and for Vasco, it was the fulfillment of a long-held dream to join Joachim on an adventure like this.

Braving the untamed wilderness, they find freedom in every wave. The cold challenges them, but the reward is an adventure carved into the soul. From navigating icy roads to braving relentless winds and freezing waters, this journey wasn’t just about reaching the surf—it was about embracing the unexpected and pushing beyond comfort zones. Bringing enough clothing was essential, and with the support of Scandinavian Edition jackets—Guard, Torrent, and Tyo—they stayed warm in the most challenging conditions, from snow to heavy winds.

The journey was not only about surfing; it was also about survival and self-sufficiency. Inspired by Portuguese tradition, they took time to catch their own cod and prepare it in the style of bacalao, adding another layer of authenticity to their Arctic adventure.

Whether chasing waves at dawn in sub-zero temperatures or taking spontaneous detours into untouched terrain, their pursuit of adventure knows no limits. Figuring out the right swell and wind combination was a challenge in itself, adding an element of strategy to their exploration.
