WHAT DO DO WHEN UNPACKING YOUR NEW DOWN JACKET

Down is a natural, organic material that needs time to fully loft, ensuring optimal warmth and comfort.

After ordering your down jacket from our webshop, it will arrive in a compressed state, tightly packed for efficient shipping. This compression helps reduce the packaging size, but it also flattens the down insulation, giving the jacket a deflated appearance upon unboxing. Don’t worry—this is completely normal.

Once you unbox your jacket, it's important to give the down time to regain its natural loft and insulating properties. Gently shake the jacket to help the down spread evenly inside. Next, hang it in a well-ventilated space, away from direct heat or sunlight, for up to 48 hours. This allows the down feathers, which have been compressed during shipping, to fully "fluff" themselves. The down works by trapping air between its fibers, and regaining this loft is crucial for the jacket to provide maximum warmth.

If the jacket still appears slightly flat after 48 hours, don’t worry—this will resolve on its own as the down continues to expand naturally. In some cases, there may be a few stubborn spots, but you don’t need to do anything unless you'd prefer a quicker fix. If you'd like to speed up the process, placing the jacket in a dryer on low heat with a few clean tennis balls or dryer balls will help break up any clumps. Otherwise, the down will fluff up completely on its own over time without any intervention.
